SYNOPSIS

EDEN LOST
Mankind didn't work out the first time.
Time for a reboot.
With mankind wiped from the planet, God retires to a cabin in the woods with a pair of babies to start the Adam-and-Eve experiment over. As the seasons pass and familiar patterns — and mistakes — start to emerge, this new first family will face a decision no one should have to make.
Echoes is the new feature film that draws out some of humanity's biggest questions — about the search for purpose, our relationship with our world and our relationship with the divine — wrapped in a small, minimalist package. Produced way outside the studios and commerce-driven mainstream, Echoes dares to be a vibrant, reflective new form of cinema.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

“I’ve become increasingly interested over the years in cinema’s ability to capture and convey time and how it passes, as well as the often shocking diversions our lives take from our plans as that time is passing. In Echoes, successfully capturing the feeling of time slipping away — the film covers decades, a rare scope for microbudget cinema —works well in tandem with my recurring themes of cyclical patterns driving our lives, the role of choice for both individuals and communities, and the conflicted feelings we struggle with in terms of faith and the idea of the divine.
“With this film, I also probably took more chances than any project in some time. It’s a film that demands attention, and has layer after layer, which follows a lot of the stories that have really inspired me over the years. Those who submit to it will be affected by it, and the conversations it has the potential to spark should be deep and complex ones, as it works as a sort of spiritual rorschach to reveal what each audience member is bringing in and projecting on the characters and deeper thematic ideas. I’m really excited by what our team made, and look forward to those conversations.”
